I'm back to work, back to Rotary (I'm the acting newsletter editor for January while the permanent editor spends the month in Florida) and digging out from various piles left after the week's vacation. So, have a few links I've been accumulating:

A) In an under-reported story, Muslim action aboard commercial airliner creates hero. The kicker is that the hero is a Muslim-American who prevented a passenger from crashing the plane.

B) Remember a few years back the story about the guy with a bomb locked to his neck who robbed a bank? Well, here's the whole story behind those events.

C) As late as 2004, Republicans used to be in favor of high-speed rail, including those small-government heroes, Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry. One could get whiplash trying to keep up with the changes to party orthodoxy.

D) Obamacare fights medical fraud and abuse. Money quote: "There was a 68.9 percent increase in criminal health care fraud prosecutions from 2010 to 2011, and 2010 was already the highest ever." Remind me again why the bill was a bad idea.
