Before we get to the links, here's the first picture of my book Pirates of Mars in the wild! (Synopsis, buying options and sample chapters at the link!)

Now, have some links:

1) As Paul Krugman points out, the European financial crisis has nothing to do with deficits or social spending. Spain and Ireland had budget surpluses, while Germany and France spend a higher share of GDP on social welfare than Greece or any other country in trouble.

2) This woman ended up making a very personal head-to-head comparison of the US and UK health systems. The UK system came out on top.

3) The US Navy now has a real railgun to play with. You may remember the old AT & T saying, "reach out and touch somebody." Well, this puppy will drop a 5-inch shell on your head from hundreds of miles away. I'm sure the recipients will find it touching. (In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to...)

4) Yes, Virginia, the progress bar on your PC is lying to you.

5) New evidence suggests Stone Age hunters from Europe discovered America first. Apparently, the later Asian arrivals overwhelmed and/or assimilated them.

6) According to the Irish Times, the pub is losing its pulling power.
