The last few weeks and weekends have been hectic at Casa Gerrib Norte. So, yesterday, finding I had nothing urgent to do, I did nothing. Well, actually, I did some daydreaming.

And ended up with the plot for a book.

It started with an Air Malaysia in Spaaaaaccee!(tm) idea of a passenger liner inbound from Mars to Earth suddenly not reporting in and changing course. I then had to figure out why somebody would want to hijack a passenger liner and not call in for a ransom.

Well, what if that liner was conveniently filled with relatively young and healthy people? And what if one had a burning need for labor, say on Mercury, but a lack of willingness to pay for said labor?

Per this table, ships capable of accelerating at 1/10 of a gee could get from Earth to Mars in 12 days, and from Earth to Mercury in 13 days.

At any rate, now that Pamela's Ghosts is off to be sold, I now have another book to work on...
