So everybody's favorite Professional Crank on the Internet (PCotI) (and self-proclaimed Hispanic man*) says that getting nominated for a Hugo was an attempt to prove that the Hugo Awards aren't rigged. Well, congratulations - you proved something everybody (except Larry Correia) already knew - they weren't.

They've also proven that it doesn't take very many votes to get to the short-list. This was also not in doubt - back in the day, L. Ron Hubbard's followers did something similar to get Battlefield Earth into the ballot.

There are already calls to "no award" (mostly for PCotI - Larry's a bit obnoxious but not in the same league) the "offending" work. Having not read the work(s) in question, I'll hold off until I actually have. I will say Larry better be bringing his A game if he wants to beat Ancillary Justice, and ditto for PCotI if he wants to beat Ted Chiang and Mary Kowal.

Tomorrow (maybe) - guns on military bases.

* Beale doesn't ring as "Hispanic" to me. It would really help PCotI's credibility if he'd clue us in to what "famous Mexican revolutionary" he's related to and how.
