Weekend Media Update
Dec. 1st, 2014 01:51 pmHerewith my update on media consumed this weekend:
The Kingdom
The Kingdom is a 2007 action movie set in Saudi Arabia. The plot is that Saudis attack a foreign workers compound, and, after some machinations, an FBI investigative team is sent in. Action ensues. It's really quite good, and noteworthy for the opening credits, which attempt to give a background into Saudi history and their roots in the current batch of Islamic extremists / terrorists.
The Immortality Game
This is a newly-released ebook I read as a review. I'll have more formal thoughts later, but the nickel version is "great read." It's set in Moscow in the year 2138, and addresses virtual reality, AI and criminals. Really quite good.
Harvest Season
At Windycon, I picked up ISFIC's newest release, an anthology of short stories from the Squeecast podcasters. Frankly it was a bit thin on the content, but enjoyable. I will probably have more thoughts on it at a later date, but right now I'm trying to see if Isfic Press has and copies actually for sale.
