Date: 2010-07-12 10:34 pm (UTC)The long-term solution to this will come when autopilots improve to the point that they can be trusted with the whole job of piloting. This will lead to multiple classes of pilot's license, with the easiest one to get simply indicating that you are familiar with emergency landing procedures should the autopilot fail, and the higher classes allowing you to actually fly on manual.
