chris_gerribMy self-published opus The Mars Run is not the only book I ever want to publish. So, I follow the industry.
There is a New York literary agent who blogs anonymously under the name "Miss Snark." Her mission is to help wanna-be writers get a clue as to how to sell a novel to a publisher. She opened up her "Crapometer" which is an open call for query letters. She then posts the letter and her thoughts on the blog. As you can see here, mine didn't make her cut.
It's useful feedback. I also like the feedback from the commenters. The more that this book has percolated on my hard drive, the less I like it. "Escape from New Deseret" was supposed to be like M. Night Shamalyan's "The Village." I.e., group pf people isolate themselves from evil, then discover that evil comes from within. "Escape" kinda forgot that.
Good thing I write on computer - can you imagine redoing 81,000 words on a typewriter?
