My allergies are more under control today, so I'm at work, albeit not at 100%. Since I have Rotary today, and am covering for our President, here's some links in lieu of content.

1) Flying while half-Jewish, or, yet another case of security theater overload. If this had happened in the old Soviet Union, it would be proof that Communism is evil.

2) The other side of the coin, I guess: F-16 pilot takes off on kamikaze run on 9/11. The pilot, LT. Heather "Lucky" Penney, scrambled with an unarmed F-16 to intercept United 93.

3) 50 new exoplanets discovered. One of them, massing 3.6 times Earth's mass, is in the habitable zone of it's star.

4) Authors upset that agent wants them to 'de-gay' character in YA novel. Sorry, editors and agents - gayness is part of reality.

5) I've talked about the myth of a non-violent women's society. An interesting data point in that discussion: Catalina de Erauso, a female soldier in 17th Century Spanish America. Her sex was discovered when she was wounded after killing a man in a fight, and she ended up getting a special dispensation from Pope Urban VIII to dress as a man.

No kidding. I was reading - in an upright Episcopalian Lady home - a copy of People. 'Gay' was all over the place, just casually inserted.

It's here and .. surprise .. it's not a big deal.

I read the biography of Nadezhda Durova some time ago, although I think she made a very poor officer (and would have made a very poor nun, as well). They're everywhere.
