Due to a variety of circumstances, I'm still using a loaner PC, which seems to affect all my computing abilities. Just to show that I'm still around, two quick links and commentary.
1) New study suggests autism can be diagnosed by facial features. Diagnosing autism is very difficult, and is usually by negation - AKA, "nothing else is wrong with the kid." So diagnosing would help. It also suggests that the root cause of autism is developmental and happens in the womb.
2) You may have heard about a 2-year-old girl in China who was ran over in the street, then ignored by 18 other locals until she was hit again. This article offers an analysis of the morality that allows that. Lest those in the West think higher of themselves, I remind them that the Gilded Age was not known for the flowing of the milk of human kindness.
