I occasionally read Jordan Bassior [livejournal.com profile] jordan179's LiveJournal. I say "occasionally" because I rarely agree with what he says. Even more rarely, I'll comment on his posts, usually when I think he's gotten his facts wrong.

Well, I now have been informed that I've been banned from commenting on his site. The hell of it is, I was banned because of what somebody else said of Jordan! What is this, junior high school?

Since I've been asked to leave the Cool Kids' Table, I shall. And no, Jordan, you don't get to sit at my table, or comment on my posts.

“Arguing on the Internet is like competing in the Special Olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded.

Me, I'm an “anti-Semite, (http://baron-waste.livejournal.com/1750721.html)” you see. Just ask him, he'll tell you. That and a nickel, will get you a cup of coffee…

I've learned to simply ignore posts like that one, and I did. They're just noise, and a group of hominids joining in on rocks, thumped in careful unison. It doesn't matter at all.

- Except as evidence that it is not merely leftists who, as I have observed, maintain their LJs as unstained gardens of ideological purity, where the deviant, the heterodox, is banned as a warning to others, who thump their rocks all the harder lest they be suspected of thoughtcrime… Every LJ I've seen thus, has been an ardent anti-capitalist, collectivist, and usually a militant feminist

All, that is, but this one.

But, y' know, that's freedom too; it is his LJ, to run as he pleases. There are millions of others.

Oh, it's his right to do that.

It's my right to bitch about it.

I once accidentally banned someone, but I've never done it intentionally! Interesting....you're controversial now!

Well, I've banned spambots, but never a real person.

Wow, I went and figured out which thread over there that corresponded to... that place is a stir-crazy racist cesspool. I can't see that you're missing much.

Don't hold back your true feelings, there! ;-)

Once that thread decided that substituting his twitter name for his legal identity in a non-twitter context for tactical value, they get locked into the coffin and kicked off into the deep, deep water so far as I'm concerned.

You mean that I shouldn't read some deep dark meaning into your LJ handle? ;-)

Of course, this assumes that they actually got the right twitter feed. There's a Facebook picture floating around of the wrong Martin.

I don't know how the guy saw it, I hardly post often enough to be worth friends, but after a deliberately provocative post today, he dumped a huge response in comments. And maybe he isn't wholly wrong in what he says.

But this, and a lot of other stuff that Google turns up, makes me feel a lot better about ignoring him. And I'm still getting that twitchy Somebody is wrong on the Internet feeling.

There's a recent country song, the refrain of which is "my give a damn is busted.". That's where I stand on Jordan
