chris_gerribSally Ride, America's first woman astronaut, died yesterday of pancreatic cancer. She was 61. If that's not sad enough, we learn in her obituary that she was gay, and, as several blogs point out, her partner won't get government benefits because of the Defense of Marriage Act. We as Americans need to get our head out of our neither regions and recognize that penalizing gay people for being gay is a stupid idea.
