I attended a charity auction for the Woodridge, IL Rotary club last night, and spent too much money as usual. It was a fun time, but the first year at a new site with a bigger goal, which led to a few minor growing pains.

I've mentioned that I'm a regular reader of Making Light, the group blog of the Nielsen Haydens. They recently posted a collection of humorous Christmas gifts, which is worth a look. My favorite, and one which I could actually see somebody buying (perhaps a fan of [livejournal.com profile] jeff_duntemann's vampire creek) would be this one: Chicks and Coffins Calendar.

Apparently it's for real. There is an Italian company, Cofanifunebri, which makes really elaborate hand-carved coffins, and this is their marketing tool. I suspect that if you have to ask how much their coffins cost, you can't afford one. It just goes to show that there is a market for everything.

The Chicks and Coffins calender would be so much better if the models were much more gothic and in the coffin, rather just ordinary looking model, which just makes it look even more tasteless.

If you dink around on the site, you'll see they have past years up as well, and some of those years were more heavily Goth-themed.
