Somebody called in a bomb threat to the Von Maur department store in Lombard, IL, about 2 miles from my office and 2.1 miles from my house. Apparently the police came, found nothing, and after a 90-minute evacuation, the store is re-opened. I understand somebody being pissed off or crazy enough to actually commit violence in a public place. Please note: understand doesn't mean agree with or condone / excuse. They're angry at either the specific store (bombs, usually) or mad at the world (shooters, usually). Their anger is illogical and/or vastly disproportional to the injuries caused, but there is some underlying reason.
What I don't understand is somebody getting their jollies from calling in threats. Especially since the usual perpetrator of these bullshit drills is "just playing a joke" and typically gets caught within a day or two. What's so funny about calling in a bomb threat? What's so funny about targeting a company that just lost six employees at the hands of a madman?
