In the mail today (actually, last night, but who's counting) I received:

Courageous (Lost Fleet #3) by Jack Campbell. I've been waiting for this for a while - it's another chapter in a well-written Space Opera.

Moon Flights, a short story collection by Elizabeth Moon. I can't say I've read everything she's written, but I have read a lot, and enjoyed all of it.

A Killing Frost by Michael A. Black. Mike's a Chicago-area cop, and a fairly new author. As far as I can tell, this is his first book to get any sort of wide distribution. I look forward to seeing if he's any good as a writer.

Courageous is out already? I must pay more attention. Is it just me or does the ship on the cover seem to owe a spiritual debt to this one (http://www.hummingline.com/toms/models/spaceships/andromeda.html) from Starblazers? I mean, it isn't the Halo Scorpion tank on the cover of Empire, or the wing-cloned Pan Am space clipper from 2001 that's on the cover of a Michael Z. William*** book, but I feel a kinship.

It bears more then a passing resemblance, now that you mention it. I take no credit for knowing Couragous is out - I pre-ordered from Amazon and let them keep track of it.
