True Heroes
Aug. 27th, 2007 09:48 amI got in this discussion about heroism with
frankwu. Frank said something about "pushbutton wars" including the current mess in Iraq. The war in Iraq is many things, but "pushbutton" it ain't.
Then, I stumble upon this post from
bdunbar. It's about a female specialist, driving a recovery truck in Iraq. She's been in 4 IED explosions, sniped at, and wounded. The blogger meets her when she's being medivac'ed for cancer. Oh, and she's going through a divorce. Her complaint? She's leaving her unit 3 months early.
Edited 8/29/07: Apparently the story above about specialist Alison K. is largely fabricated. Read here for details.
