Pre-Driven and That Song Has Words?
Oct. 4th, 2010 01:08 pmDriving to lunch today, I see a license plate holder on a car announcing "Schaumburg Pre-Driven" (cars, presumably). Does anybody really think that "pre-driven" is any better than "used?" Seriously.
In other news, I attended the first concert of the season of the New Philharmonic, my local symphony orchestra. They had a children's special program, including Peter and the Wolf, which was before the intermission. After the intermission, they played several shorter pieces, concluding with Pomp and Circumstance.
I learned two things about Pomp, a song I thought I completely understood, namely:
1) The 'da,dadada da, da' part of the song (the only part I'd ever heard) is actually the chorus (or more technically, the trio) of the march.
2) It has words!
In fact, the words are the chorus to the song Land of Hope and Glory, a British patriotic song. How did I learn this? We, the audience, sang the chorus!
I really enjoy the New Philharmonic.
